Brief
To create a layout for an article based on women in the skateboarding industry. The women involved in extreme sports have up to this point been ignored. Men have become professionals, being paid to travel the world skating whereas, due to lack of financial opportunities, popular women within the sport have been forced to skate on the side of a full time job. In recent years this has started to change and people are paying attention; for no reason other than women demanding their voices to be heard.
Solution
This magazine explores the idea of being present but unseen. The type lock-up contrasts a soft, some would say more feminine, font and a bold, strong font nodding to the determination these women had. Images are large yet blurred to show the women’s boldness and perseverance in an industry that didn’t want to accept them.
